In honor of the fifth anniversary of Robert Anton Wilson’s death, BoingBoing has been posting about him all week, and in one of the posts, Gareth Branwyn put up a picture of the original paperback editions of RAW’s Illuminatus! trilogy:
I thought the covers were so cool I dug up more images of book covers by the artist, Carlos Victor Ochagavia. Here are his covers for two books by Keith Laumer from Cadwalader Ringgold’s Flickr photostream:
Also, check out this dope poster of monsters from Greek myths by Ochagavia that I found in WesternOutlaw’s Flickr photostream:
I find this one especially exciting because I just finished reading all of Jesse Moynihan’s webcomic Forming that involves some Greek myth.
Those are so awesome! That crab man is so funny. Old, beat up books are such cool objects, like weird relics.

Yeah I love the smell and feel of musty old books. And I like having these huge scans of them where you can see all the cracks in the cover and the crumbling edges.

The poster of the Greek monsters was great to see. I bought that poster back in 1979 in elementary school through the “arrow books/scholastic books” program. That was back before internet, when we had to anxiously await our books by mail. I had that poster pinned above my bed, lost it when we moved. Haven’t seen it in more than 30 years, thought I’d never see it again. Memory lane, thanks!

I had that Greek Myths poster on my wall as a kid! How freaky is that 🙂
Wow, thanks for posting these.
