{"id":581,"date":"2009-05-19T00:13:00","date_gmt":"2009-05-19T07:13:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hypercastle.com\/blog\/?p=581"},"modified":"2009-05-19T00:13:00","modified_gmt":"2009-05-19T07:13:00","slug":"tcaf-panel-on-inkstuds-and-kirbys-2001","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hypercastle.com\/blog\/2009\/05\/19\/tcaf-panel-on-inkstuds-and-kirbys-2001\/","title":{"rendered":"TCAF Panel on Inkstuds and Kirby&#8217;s 2001"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Robin McConnell of <a href=\"http:\/\/inkstuds.com\">Inkstuds<\/a> has just <a href=\"http:\/\/inkstuds.com\/?p=2021\">posted<\/a> the audio from a panel that he was on at <span title=\"Toronto Comic Arts Festival\">TCAF<\/span> with Frank Santoro, Dash Shaw, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.robertdayton.com\">Robert Dayton<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dharbin.com\/\">Dustin Harbin<\/a>. The panel&#8217;s an awesome discuss of how mainstream comics have influenced alternative comics (definitely true for me), especially work like late-seventies Jack Kirby and James Steranko.<\/p>\n<p>One thing that Frank Santoro reminded me of (that I haven&#8217;t thought about since Austin Books started their renovation and hid their back issues, a problem that will soon be resolved!) is Jack Kirby&#8217;s late seventies <i>2001<\/i> series.
