{"id":1955,"date":"2011-01-21T07:30:34","date_gmt":"2011-01-21T12:30:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hypercastle.com\/blog\/?p=1955"},"modified":"2011-01-21T07:30:34","modified_gmt":"2011-01-21T12:30:34","slug":"mati-klarwein-landscapes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hypercastle.com\/blog\/2011\/01\/21\/mati-klarwein-landscapes\/","title":{"rendered":"Mati Klarwein Landscapes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve been thinking about the landscapes in my comics and paintings a lot, about how I really need to push their otherworldliness to the next plane. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.matiklarweinart.com\/\">Mati Klarwein<\/a>&rsquo;s landscapes, which I saw on Brenna Murphy&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/brennamurphy.tumblr.com\/\">tumblr<\/a>, have definitely given me some forms that I can riff on. <\/p>\n<p>I think this first one is my favorite. There&#8217;s just something really appealing to me about terraced landscapes (which this guy paints a lot of).<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hypercastle.com\/images\/2011-01-21_image1.jpg\"><br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/www.matiklarweinart.com\/en\/gallery\/youre-next-1979.htm\">Original enclosure<\/a>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This next one is less striking because, as <a href=\"http:\/\/glademade.net\">Glade<\/a> said, it&#8217;s all details and no central image, but man I could get lost in those details:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hypercastle.com\/images\/2011-01-21_image2.jpg\"><br \/>Cropped because of watermark. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.matiklarweinart.com\/en\/gallery\/high-rise-1982.htm\">Original enclosure<\/a>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This last one has a ton of stuff going on. I really like how some prominent features (glowing golden figure, cube) are hidden or obscured by all the lush vegetation.
